Johan and Adele van Tonder are the owners of
J & J Jewellers. Johan has been in the jewellery industry for the past 40 years qualifying as a
Master Goldsmith, one of very few left in South Africa. Being a Master Goldsmith is to be efficient in all aspects of jewellery manufacturing, gemmology, setting, designing etc.
Over some of these years he has managed and run numerous workshops for some of the leading jewellery concerns in Johannesburg. More recently, over the past 25 years, he has had his own manufacturing and retail works. During the eighties he won many Jewellery Design competitions for the Chamber of Mines. Presently he has a workshop of thirteen staff, but has trained and put at least 30 goldsmiths through their apprenticeships - none of which have obtained less than a B+ on their trade tests.

Adele has been in the jewellery industry for the past 16 years. Her areas of expertise are in management, retail, customer liaison, accounting but nothing is more prevalent than her passionate creative flair she exercises daily designing unparalleled creations for her clientele.

This creative passion led her to be second runner up in the Jewellery Council/ Roland/ American Swiss/ Harmony Gold‘s prestigious WAX2MAX Jewellery Design competition in August 2008.

The perfection of her designing is enhanced with her knowledge and application of 3D Rhinoceros engineering in jewellery design. This facilitates the client in seeing the design from sketch, to magazine rendering to a wax prototype and finally a Master piece in the metal of their choice.
